I wasn't joking when I told you, you take my breath awaySeptember 16, 2010
Dear Readers,
Thanks for dropping by every once in a while. I'd like you to know that this is me, but it's not ALL of me. All the content is mulled over and heavily filtered before I hit the 'Publish Post' button so as to make it appropriate for all audiences, so it's not like I carelessly post the first thing that comes to my mind. The content is carefully and purposely chosen to express my thoughts, and I'd appreciate it if you don't form ideas of the type of person I am based only on this blog.
This will be the last post. I wanted to write a proper goodbye instead of leaving it hanging. I won't delete anything because I stand by everything that I've mentioned here. Whoever stumbles upon this blog in the future will know just a small part of who Nashira was at age 18.
Thanks for your time.
{ Just promise me you'll think of me every time you look up in the sky and see a star }

Canada's Other JustinJune 11, 2010
This is Justin Nozuka. (Kudos to whoever first told me of him a couple of years ago.)
As quoted from his website, "There are so many examples of artists that become really successful and go crazy. It just says a lot about human beings in those situations, getting so much attention and having that cushy lifestyle, travelling all over the place, talking about themselves in every interview. I feel it, at times, just the weird mental madness from all that. I think it's really important to keep your perspective."
If you're into chill, easy-listening soul music, I think you should definitely give him a listen. I've only been playing his 2 whole albums for the past day, so I haven't decided on my favorites yet. Off the top of my head, I'd recommend After Tonight, Save Him, Down in a Cold Dirty Well, Gray and Woman Put Your Weapon Down.

Heart skipped a beatApril 7, 2010

With a math test tomorrow and a bio test the next day, now's not exactly the best time to get a sudden burst of inspiration. A few hours ago, I was struck with what I believe to be a brilliant idea, and I can't wait to get it down on paper. I just spent way too much time surfing the Internet in an attempt to enhance the picture I have in my head instead of preparing for those tests!
By the way, if anyone is looking for some really cool music, check out The xx. Try giving Stars or Shelter a listen :)

Tell me what you want to hearMarch 18, 2010
As much as I hate to say it, I don't get as excited for a new Gossip Girl episode as I used to for the first two seasons. From the beginning of Season 3, the drama had dwindled down and it got a little routine, but they pulled off a great episode 12 before leaving us avid watchers desperate for more. When the show finally picked up again after a 3 month hiatus, I couldn't wait to see what had become of all the characters, however, it was a bit of a let down for me.
To sum it up, Serena is just as impulsive and can't keep her tongue to herself, Jenny still doesn't know right from wrong and religiously stands up for what she wants, Lily keeps making the same mistakes and covers them up instead of telling the truth and Rufus... is just plain annoying these days. Chuck and Blair are the only ones who I think have changed and managed to remain interesting. Though Chuck is still hard on himself, he's more in touch with his feelings, while Blair has given up on scheming and dedicated herself to being there for Chuck. They definitely belong together, though to be honest, I miss the times when each of them found it hard to give in and admit their love for the other.
The 14th episode wasn't much better than the 13th, but as it closed to OneRepublic's Secrets, I found myself eager for next week's installment.
Click on the pictures to see where I got them from :)

I'm in love with the song Pyramid by Charice and Iyaz. I found it in Youtube and now I can't stop listening to it.

I still don't know what I'm going to do next year!
I'm so jealous of people who already have their future all planned out :( AHHH if only i could do nothing.

I want it all, everything. I will get what I want because I will work for it. No more screwing up, no more playing around.
Goodbye failure, hello effort.

I've got a pocket full of dreamsMarch 5, 2010
I've always had a sort of secret desire to visit the concrete jungle where dreams are made of. That's right, I'm talking about New York Citayy.

There's something I find so very intriguing about the way the sidewalks are full of people clad in distinctive streetwear going places on foot. It's like being in your own fashion show where you're the designer and the city is your runway.
I once accidentally voiced my thought as to why nobody walks here in the streets of KL, to receive my dad's simple answer: it's too hot. I don't know why I didn't think of it myself =.=
Alicia Keys' Empire State of Mind (Part II) Broken Down perfectly encompasses my feelings towards the dreamy city.

This last picture is of the gorgeous Rumi Neely from fashiontoast.

Hello Mr. RadioFebruary 19, 2010
Lady Gaga. That's someone who has as many haters as she has fans. What am I? Definitely a fan."You can literally choose to have fame. [...] If anyone said, who was Lady Gaga? I would be okay with, 'She is the most impressive con artist of fame'. I mean, I literally trick people every day into believing that I'm somebody, and I'm not."
When her first single came out, I refused to like it, solely because the lyrics insinuated that going out dancing and drinking would make everything better. That doesn't exactly coincide with my philosophy of a good long phone call to your best friend or mother to cheer you up.
However, I've opened up to the talented Lady Gaga, and found that not all her songs are that superficial. The meaning to her songs are usually disguised by catchy pop beats and her ultra-unconventional image.
So what if she goes out of her way --waaay out of her way-- to make people notice her? She's got killer vocals and demanding stage presence. Isn't that what is expected from a "star"?
"I've always been an artist, but when I started to be just who I really am, which is a provocative exhibitionist, somebody that does something for attention pretty shamelessly, that's when I was like okay, just be who you are. That's your artistry."
This post's title is a line from Lady Gaga's Filthy Pop. If you haven't heard it yet, do yourself a favor and listen to it now :)
