I forgot who said it, but that quote is from Northanger Abbey, by Jane Austen. In more modern language, what it means is that friendship is the best remedy for heartache. Your friends are the ones who will be there to help you get through the worst of the break-up, unhappy ending or whatever it may be. I fully stand by that, plus of course a good old bar of chocolate to nurse the heart ;)
